WORKPLACE INJURY & WORKERS’ COMPENSATION LAW

Most businesses with 3 or more employees are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance to cover and work related injury to their employee(s).
With the exception of some federal workers, railroad employees, and some farming positions, workers’ compensation insurance is required to protect employees when they are injured on the job – protection comes in the form of financial compensation and support to help cover the cost of medical expenses, rehabilitation and the loss of wages while the person is unable to work.
It seems very basic on the surface: The employer purchases a Workers’ Compensation Insurance policy to cover their employees in the event of an accident. Things are never that simple.
