One such story is that of the Boyd family and their journey to honor their beloved son, Zachary Boyd.
In 2013, Bobby Boyd and his family faced the unimaginable when they lost their son Zachary.
At 2am Tuesday August 12th 2013, life as I knew it changed forever when the Deputy Sheriff knocked on my door to inform me that my son Zachary had been hit by an 18 wheeler and that he didn’t survive. Gut punch, loss for words, devastated were just some of the many emotions I felt. The next morning I took my guitar, set on my front porch and tried to make sense of this loss. The only words that kept coming were, STAND. I didn’t know what to do, what to feel but God was saying STAND, when no nobody else is watching and STAND when nobody else is around. He was God on Monday morning, and he was still God on Tuesday morning. We hope this song brings you hope if you feel hopeless, healing if you’re hurting. He will turn the Hearts of the Fathers to their children and the Hearts of the children to their fathers. Zachary was 21 and my only child, never give up hope on your children no matter how far away they may seem to be, for when you have done all you can do just STAND.
Through their grief, they reached out to Kellum Law Firm for legal support. Our firm worked closely with the Boyd family to provide guidance and support throughout their wrongful death case. Recently, Bobby Boyd reached out to us to share special note and to draw our attention to a music video he had created to honor his son’s passing. He wrote,
“Good morning John. You and Mr. Kellum helped our family navigate our son Zachary J. Boyd’s death back in 2013. After that tragedy, I wrote a song, and since then we made a music video last year. [STAND (Zack’s Song) music video here]. The song can be downloaded from any music platform. I wanted to say thanks once again for all you did for us, and his memory still lives on.”
In the aftermath of Zachary’s passing, Bobby Boyd turned to music as a way to cope with the loss and keep his son’s memory alive. The result was a powerful tribute called “STAND (Zack’s Song).” This heartfelt piece has not only helped Bobby and his family find comfort, but it also serves as a beacon of hope for others who may be facing similar challenges. The music video is a touching reminder of the love a family holds, even after tragedy strikes.
