I received my undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, and am a proud Tar Heel. I was a public school teacher for six years before returning to law school. I received my law degree from NC Central University, where I received the Law Scholar academic scholarship.
After law school, I worked in private practice for a small firm for two years and then joined the North Carolina Industrial Commission as a Special Deputy Commissioner issuing administrative rulings in workers’ compensation claims. I left the Industrial Commission to pursue mediation, and I am a certified mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission.
I am proficient in Spanish. I find it very rewarding to help people through what is often a confusing and frustrating process after a work-related injury.
I am originally from Burlington, North Carolina. I live in Raleigh with my husband, two teenagers, and two dogs. I volunteer with the PTA and Second Chance Pet Adoptions, and I mentor a high school FIRST robotics team.
